You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the Quality Assurance Manager (Code 960), Production Department Analysis & Business Manager (Code 900A), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will conduct internal program, process, and ship overhaul audits to identify quality problems and opportunities for improvement. You will provide production support for investigations identified by damage and waste, guarantee of industrial work and chronic quality problems requiring utilization of failure analysis team. You will conduct studies for work processes by collecting, sorting, grouping, and analyzing process data for quality trends. You will prepare and utilize charts and graphs to present results on processed data. You will prepare various monthly/quarterly reports such as process quality indicator, and rework identification. You will recommend quality improvements to shop management based on lessons learned from audits, investigative analysis, and special studies results.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in investigative and analysis methods and techniques to conduct effective audits/investigations of shipyard programs, processes and products and analyze results on a cumulative basis to identify quality trends. Experience interpreting drawings, plans, specifications, job orders and other documents used by the Production Resources Department-Shops. Experience in developing and implementing an effective, economical shipyard quality assurance program by using quality assurance concepts, principles and methodology . In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
