About the Position: This position serves as the Tax Assistance Coordinator under the Installation Legal Office. This position is located at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Fort Bragg is co-located with Fayetteville, North Carolina, a culturally diverse city. Fort Bragg is known as the "Home of the Airborne and Special Operations.

Duties

Serve as the on-site coordinator for the Installation Tax Assistance Center. Train Voluntary Income Tax Assistance preparers. Utilize automated information systems and computer programs pertaining to taxes. Prepare Federal and State income tax. Coordinate with IRS and state tax agencies for guidance, forms, publications, and tax schedules. Provide procedural guidance in the preparation of personal income tax returns.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must pass Internal Revenue Services (IRS) certification test for volunteer income tax assistance program.
• Position requires National Agency Check with Written Inquiries.

Qualifications

This is a Temporrary NTE 8 Month position. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical Federal and State income tax guidance, assistance in tax preparation, coordinating with tax agencies, utilizing tax preparation software to prepare federal and state taxes, and implementing a comprehensive income tax preparation program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
