This is a formal Air Force intern position, established under the PALACE Acquire (PAQ) program; This program is intended to develop broad gauged individuals who can deal effectively with change and complexity within the Air Force environment as it relates to the financial management career field.

Performs a variety of tasks to support budget formulation involving review and preparation of annual funding for one of more future budget years for stable organizations, activities, and/or accounts.
Performs basic tasks involving budget execution.
Performs a variety of routine taskings in the cost analysis field designed to advance the intern's analytical, judgment, procedural, and technical skills.
Perform a variety of tasks in support of budget and cost analysis studies and projects to develop analytical, judgment, procedural, and technical skills.
Uses automated financial management databases and systems and their products.
Performs special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan.

- This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
- The employee must meet or be capable of meeting Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification requirements applicable to the career category designated on the position description within 24 months of assignment.
- This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
- This is a Financial Management Level II certified position IAW the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112-81, Subtitle F-Financial Management, Section 1599d.
- Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program if selected and will have 24 months to complete the certification.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical.
- Up to 50% travel is required.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties.
- Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-07: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: Performing a variety of specific tasks designed to develop knowledge and skills in applying Acquisition Program Management principles, methods and techniques and understanding the fundamental precepts of defense systems acquisitions; Carries out special projects designed to facilitate the full use of the intern's training and development; Serves as a budget analyst in the installation's budget office performing tasks involving routine continuing budget and cost analysis functions while developing skills and
experience in the field.
This is a GS-07 position with development through the GS-09 level to the full performance level (target) and outplacement grade of GS-11. The intern will receive formal, informal, and/or on-the-job training as outlined in the formal training & development plan; assignments will become progressively more difficult in nature. Assignments at this level are designed to provide the knowledges, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform at the
intermediate (GS-09) grade level. Non-competitive promotion to that next higher grade level (GS-09) is dependent upon: 1) satisfactory completion of the training requirements, 2) demonstrated ability to perform the duties at the next higher grade level, 3) fulfillment of all OPM legal and regulatory requirements for promotion, and 4) recommendation for promotion by the supervisor.
Education
- You must have completed a 4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) at the undergraduate level in one of the following:
- Class Standing - upper third of the graduating class based on completed courses in the college, university, or major subdivision

- Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript or as computed based on 4 years of education or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of curriculum; OR 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in your major field or the required courses in your major field completed during the final 2 years of your curriculum. If more than 10 percent of total undergraduate credit hours are non-graded, i.e. pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit, etc, you cannot qualify based on GPA;

- Election to membership in a national scholastic honor society (note: freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this position). (If qualifying based on class standing or honor society membership, provide appropriate documentation).You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA):
1. Knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, precedents, methods and techniques of financial management in the
areas of budgeting and cost analysis.
2. Knowledge of well established budget formulation practices, procedures, precedents and policies.
3. Knowledge of management theories, principles, concepts and practices including life cycle management.
4. Knowledge of the theories and principles of research inquiry and cost analysis.
5. Ability to research and analyze data and to interpret findings, and the ability to use IT to do so.
6. Knowledge of acquisitions program management principles, techniques, requirements, methods and practices to carry out tasks to support planning.
7.Perform a variety of specific tasks to develop knowledge and skill in applying Acquisition Logistics principles, methods and techniques.
8. Knowledge to perform tasks to assist in the development of acquisition logistics that support the operation, maintenance, and support of the system.
9. Analytical and evaluation skills to assess capability in meeting customer or project requirement.
10. Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
