About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor’s instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, cause of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed (e.g., assures that machine capacities are not exceeded and tools are properly used). Uses various automated systems such as but not limited to Logistic Modernization Program (LMP), Automated Tool Inventory Control and Tracking System (ATICTS) and Electronic Facilities Equipment Maintenance System (EFEMS).

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Federal Wage System employees, WG/WL/WS etc. must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.

Frequently handles items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally is required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds; however, hoists, lifts, and other workers are available to assist with heavier items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in shop that is moderately lighted, heated and ventilated. Incumbent is exposed to disagreeable odors, smoke and fumes and also there is danger to skin and eyes from flying metal chips, abrasive particles, and hot metal; skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants and abrasive compounds; and danger to the fingers, hands and other parts of the body from cutting tools, grinding wheels, rotating work pieces and moving parts of machines.
