This position is located in the Disability Rights Section. As an Equal Opportunity Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day duties of DRS's Intake Unit, which processes all incoming mail and complaints received under titles II and III of the ADA.

The incumbent will serve as a Equal Opportunity Specialist. Duties include, but are not limited to: Handle calls from individuals who wish to check the status of complaints filed with the Section. Provide support in training and guidance for DRS staff on the Division's complaint database use and capabilities, when necessary. Use Section software proficiently, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and various database management systems. Create, review and revise documents in PDF and other formats to ensure that they are Section 508 compliant. Complete FOIA and Privacy Act requests including researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to requests. Serves as FOIA liaison to the Division's FOIA office and tracks FOIA requests to ensure timely and accurate processing. Provide support and oversight for all processes involved in the receipt, collection, control, dissemination, storage, retrieval, protection, and disposition of records received, generated, and utilized by DRS.

Specialized Experience Requirements Specialized experience for the GS-07: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: Experience searching and updating database management systems. Experience reviewing and drafting responses to customer complaints and inquiries. Experience providing customer service support. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: -one full year of graduate level education; OR -Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class), or grade point average (3.0/4.0 overall or 3/5/4.0 in major, or election to membership to a qualifying nation scholastic honor society. Note: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school I attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours is considered as satisfying the one year of full-time study requirement. OR Combination of Experience and Education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. In order to be rated as qualified for this position, we must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - please be sure to include this information in your resume. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualifications and education requirements (if applicable) must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
