Incumbent works at Augusta VA Medical Center as the Supervisor over the HVAC/Pipefitting Shop, under the supervision of the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Supervisor. There are two (2) HVAC/Pipefitting supervisors - (1) Uptown & (1) Downtown.
Duties
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The supervisor is responsible for performing all station level preventative maintenance to heating and cooling equipment, kitchen equipment, multiple office spaces, clinics, and functional areas of the hospital. Makes necessary contacts when required for coordination and to gather additional information regarding preventative maintenance repairs and inspections.
Prepares cost estimates, obtains quotes, orders materials, parts, and equipment required for preventative maintenance.
Installations, modifications, maintenance & repairs of HVAC & ventilation systems, AC ductwork, building automation systems (BAS), plumbing supply & return lines and fixtures, sewer & ventilation lines and any other items that are required in the maintenance & repairs of the facilities within the hospital.
Performs, and reviews work performed, practices, and methods involved in a variety of trades like pipefitting, HVAC, sheet metal forming, plumbing, & refrigeration.
Conducts periodic inspections of work that is in progress and that has been completed to determine the immediate and long-range work needs of the facility.
Provides training when required for assigned employees to include safety training.
Makes necessary contacts when required for coordination and to gather additional information regarding installations, repairs, and maintenance.
Obtains or orders materials, parts and equipment required to replenish shop stock that is used for repairs, maintenance, and installations.
Conducts assessments on upcoming and long-range repairs prior to approval and starting maintenance & repair work.
Develops work schedule for maintenance repairs, daily progress reporting and projecting follow on tasks for repair completions.
Other responsibilities include maintenance, preventive maintenance, scheduled testing assistance and assistance to the other maintenance shops when otherwise not engaged in HVAC/Pipefitting type activities or workload.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: 7:00am-3:30pm

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Most of the incumbent's duties are sedentary in nature with occasional walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching as required. Work Environment: Work setting involves minimal risks and discomforts but does not require normal safety precautions typical of an office setting. The incumbent can receive irregular exposure to communicable diseases and/or abusive behavior. The incumbent may also be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
