This position staffs the harbor control tower for NBK-Bremerton, WA and NBK-Bangor, WA. This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Duties

You will coordinate security sweeps of vessels requesting entry into naval installation waterfronts. You will provide continuous radio support for the harbor and maintain harbor movement logs. You will receive/disseminate/update schedules and changes for vessel movement and traffic in/out of the installation, including tugs, dive boats, workboats, security boats, barges, floating cranes, and naval submarines and aircraft carriers. You will liaison with ships to determine operating schedules and pier assignments, opening and closing of Port Security Barrier, and setting oil boom.

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Calculating recommended optimum ship arrival or departure times based on tide and current conditions; 2) Interpreting and applying policies, regulations, directives, instructions, and procedures governing the work of the Regional Port Operations organization; 3) Communicating effectively both orally and in writing, while using tact, diplomacy, and resourcefulness; 4) Demonstrating Port Operation functions such as tug operations, service craft, pilots, berthing, docking evolutions, and hotel services to routinely dispatch and coordinate a variety of evolutions that often occur on weekends and after hours; and 5) Interpreting and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both normal and emergent situations to be capable of operating under pressure in emergency situations to notify and track casualty operations on the waterfront.
