About the Position: This position is located with the Joint Personal Property Shipment Office, within the Personal Property Management Division on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 3 years position. It is time-limited and may be extended up to a maximum of eight years. This position MAY be converted to permanent career or career-conditional appointment without further competition.
Duties
Inspect contractor's performance at residence and warehouse during packaging, crating, loading shipping, unloading, uncrating and upacking.
Perform damage inspections when requested by the shipper or the claims office.
Ensure inventory is complete and report damage and missing items is accurate.
Inspect crates and material for overseas or domestic shipment and rejects those not meeting specifications.
Perform pre-awards survey for pack and crate contractor warehouse and equipment, in accordance with current regulations or directive; recommends approval or disapproval of the facility for use by government.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Experience packing and unpacking boxes, crates, or shipments in the proper manner in order to prevent damages; 2) Assisting with damage inspections; and 3) Assisting with inspections to ensure materials have been packaged properly. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
