You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) in the Cyber Warfare Department, Cyber Resiliency Division, Defensive Cyber Engineering and Ops Branch of NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Duties

You will operate at multiple security levels with regulations defined by varying security classification guides or directives dependent on the program office or owner authorities, inventory, facility or location, and data under examination. You will be responsible for applying DoD and industry accepted incident response principles and tools in acquiring, collecting, preserving, processing, and reporting on electronic data according to established procedures and protocols. You will be responsible for the application of science to the identification, collection, examination, and analysis of data while preserving the integrity of the information and maintaining a strict chain of custody for the data. You will be responsible for leading the incident response team and coordinating assignments, events, projects, training, and exercises. You will be responsible for reviewing intel reports for systems in question and tailoring event planning properly. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, conducting, and incident response data collections and processing on various computers systems, servers and file shares, storage devices, mobile devices, and aviation related digital storage media.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area Cyber Defense Incident Responder level Expert within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11/12 grade level or pay band (DS-4) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1.) Ability to install, configure, optimize, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and perform preventive maintenance on personal computers, digital devices, and operating systems. 2.) Needs an understanding of computer basics, network, computer hardware, input/output device identification and function, common operating system functionality with focus on the use of the command line. 3.) Have a foundational knowledge needed to perform digital and network investigations. 4.) Understanding of forensic examination processes and investigations with ability to follow/develop technical procedures and reporting. 5.) Needs to be able to lead a team of specialists, and ability to collaborate with varying stakeholders to identify/integrate Cyber Forensics principals and methods. 6.) Specific training paths/certifications are required to be obtained in order to perform position. Training paths are provided on the first day and expected to be fulfilled over a given amount of time.
