Duties

Working within the Office of the Inspector General, you will assess the scope and depth of reviews, audits, and inspections based on guidance and make adjustments to the scope and depth as necessary. You will review findings and proposed recommendations at the conclusion of reviews, audits, and inspections. You will assist in providing liaison and coordination for reviews, audits, and inspections. You will review, continuously monitor, and track until completion of open internal and external oversight findings, recommendations, deficiencies, and other related outcomes identified in final reports. You will review internal and external directives and laws, determine the intent and interpretation of the policy and guidance required for the effective and efficient review of the various management systems and controls. You will assist in aspects of Hotline program administration.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Supporting the interpretation of regulations, policies, and procedures for efficient review of managements systems and internal controls; 2) Assisting in gathering and analyzing information to provide sound recommendations for policy and to management; and 3) Using fact-finding, analytical, and problem solving methods and techniques to evaluate information concerning management systems and controls. NOTE: This experience must be fully supported by information in your resume. For GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using computer operations, electronic communications, spreadsheet analysis, and database creation and utilization to prepare reports, schedules, statements, etc.; 2) Communicating effectively in writing to varying levels of both internal and external management, military and civilian; 3) Managing, supporting, and/or coordinating an inspection, area visit, audit, event, or similar function; and 4) Gathering, assembling, collating, and analyzing information and providing logical conclusions and recommendations for inspections, area visits, audits, evaluation reviews, inquiries, and/or investigations. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

For GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR

OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

For GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
