The primary role of the Program Support Assistant (PSA) position is to provide administrative, analytical, and evaluative work and technical functions, tasks, and special projects of increasing difficulty in support of management, ADV Program, and the Homeless Program. The incumbent will also assist with data collection, analysis of trends, and implementation of best practices.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Utilizes organizational and analytical skills to assist in the compliance and quality oversight of the VA Aging and Disabled Veteran Program, by reviewing and evaluating ADV case management for compliance, coordinating annual inspections, maintaining databases of census sheets, case management reports, inspections, corrective action reports, grants and other relevant documentation.
Maintains a professional environment by coordinating and assisting with workflow within the Homeless Program.
Provides daily review of all Veterans admitted to the Homeless Program to screen for eligibility for the Homeless Program.
Responsible for the coordination of data collection procedures.
Collect, organize, and manage all data collected by ADV staff to ensure their completeness and accuracy.
Assist with coordinating and attending quarterly meetings with grantees.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/06/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of the Department's organizational goals, priorities, and policies to perform such tasks as assembling information to be used for reports or responses to inquiries; to compose correspondence not requiring technical knowledge; and to maintain awareness of the critical and administrative problems related to mental health and patient care services programs. Knowledge of the Program Manager's views sufficient to enable the employee to perform duties such as developing material for use is public speaking engagements. Knowledge of analytical and evaluative techniques sufficient to complete substantive assignments related to procedural and administrative issues. Experience and competence in resolving issues in which the individuals involved have divergent opinions and differing opinions. Ability to write clearly, logically, and in sufficient detail to assist the Program Manager and staff in making informed decisions. Ability to perform a wide range of functions in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SharePoint and Outlook and the ability to extract and manipulate data in several VHA databases which would include VISTA. Knowledge of various software applications necessary to accomplish duties of this position.

Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary in nature and requires walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items such as books, papers, medical records, etc. Occasional commuting between the Homeless program offices, the Medical Center and the local affiliated institution is required. No special physical qualifications are required.
