About the position:
This position will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation located on Peterson Air Force Base.
This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Intermediate and Advanced Guides in conducting safe and efficient programs; the incumbent of this position helps higher level guides when group activities requires more than one staff monitor.
Carries out guide duties to include but not limited to rafting and other outdoor recreation programs.
Provides resources, first aid, and evacuation procedures for customers and other staff when necessary.
Enforces safety rules and safe procedures at all times.
Drives vehicles and shuttles for the purpose of transporting gear and customers to designated program activities.
Ensures equipment and vehicles are maintained, fueled, and stored as necessary. Answers inquiries about items, places, transportation, or other matters related to activities scheduled.
Takes inventory of authorized recreation supplies and equipment.
Ensures all required paperwork is completed in a timely manner.
May perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- First Aid and CPR training is required.
- Must have one or more of the following: Peterson AFB Indoor Climbing Wall Instructor Certification and State of Colorado/Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) Whitewater Rafting Guide.
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Practical knowledge of recreational activities, rules, and procedures is required. First Aid & CPR training and certification is required. Higher medical
certification such as Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder (WFA/WFR) is highly desirable. Must have one or more of the following certifications: American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) Single Pitch Instructor (SPI) trained, AMGA Climbing Wall Instructor, Mountain Bike Instructor, American Canoe Association (ACA) Swift Water Rescue Technician Level 4, ACA Stand Up Paddleboard instructor, ACA White Water Kayaking Level 4 Instructor, American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) Level 1, AIARE Level 2, AIARE PRO 1, or White Water River Guide (multiple state licenses accepted): other similar outdoor recreation certifications may be recognized.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
