About the position: This position will be assigned to the Aquatics Center on Peterson Space Force Base. Applicants are referred to the hiring official on bi-weekly basis. Applicants must be available to work rotating shifts between the hours of 0700 through 2000, including weekdays, late evenings, and weekends.

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities: Assists with the operation of the pool. Leads and oversees the work of assigned recreation aid and assistant lifeguards and monitors compliance with facility policies. May assist manager with employee schedules. Assists with the operation of the pool, its filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry, and performs water tests. Provides work guidance to assigned staff and relays information received from management. Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules, and reports their behavior to the manager. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements

• This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain current record of immunization.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and one every three years thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

Qualifying Experience: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment; such experience must be gained in the private sector, government, or similar pool program.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
