About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, managing, and reviewing all actions concerned with the operation and conduct of the Maintenance Division, Maintenance Production Control Branch & Contract Surveillance for maintenance operations at the Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Duties

Serve as Chief, Installation Maintenance Division (IMD), Maintenance Production Control Branch, Logistics Readiness Center. Plan, direct, and manage the activities of a branch charged with the maintenance, storage, documentation, production control, supply operations, contract surveillance, quality assurance functions in support of the Army Sustainment Command. Provide timely, authoritative, and sound advice to the IMD Chief, commanders and staff(s) on status of maintenance and repair parts supply support. Direct, coordinate, and monitor Field Level and Sustainment Level maintenance support for all assigned equipment and materiel. Coordinate, program, and monitor maintenance and production control efforts related to maintenance equipment and materiel. Appointed as the Alternate Contracting Officer's Representative (ACOR) for maintenance support operations and evaluate contractor capabilities to maintain all equipment in the Army inventory at the installation. Review maintenance activity and readiness reports and compile staff studies and evaluate operating procedures to discern problem areas and to develop and/or direct corrective measures. Develop maintenance and logistic technical work specifications for contracts to be awarded for maintenance functions. Direct the establishment and maintenance of all applicable local technical orders, maintenance directives, Standard Operating Procedures, and working library of all applicable Technical Manuals, Supply Bulletins, etc. Perform supervisory duties such as assigning work to subordinates; establishing performance standards to evaluate employees' performance; resolving grievances and employee complaints; recommending awards; and identifying training needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess (or obtain) and maintain a valid state Government Driver's License to operate vehicles.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary, the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) planning, directing and/or managing maintenance operations/activities; (2) performing contract oversight to ensure compliance with contractual performance and/or documents; (3) Resolving maintenance and/or logistical operations problems/issues; and (4) leading personnel and/or projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Contract Management/SupportDecision MakingManaging Human ResourcesPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
