You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the Motor Load Branch Division of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-3 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-9 and GS-10. The NT-4 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-11 and GS-12.
Duties
You will plan, organize, and execute projects that develop, monitor, and improve processes related to the manufacture of energetic materials including cast-composite propellants and double-based propellants.
You will lead established programs, projects, and other junior members of the technical task team in order to maintain product quality and the implementation of continuous process improvements.
You will analyze data from a variety of sources (e.g., manufacturer’s drawings, specifications, and maintenance records).
You will read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other manufacturing processes.
You will create and write documentation related to engineering practices.
You will assist engineers and technicians in qualitative and quantitative techniques to solve manufacturing problems.
You will support a manufacturing organization.
You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications
NT-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to NT-3 (GS-9/10 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing technical engineering support by analyzing or evaluating materials, components, or systems of rocket motors, explosives, or other energetic devices and resolving operational or manufacturing problems in support of energetic production
NT-3: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-2 (GS-5/8 equivalent) pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Performing technical engineering services by conducting operations or evaluation on energetic components (e.g. propellants, igniters, thermal batteries) to provide quality control and resolve operational or manufacturing problems in support of explosive testing.
