NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. The principal role of the Office of Grants Management is to ensure uniform administration of grants and cooperative agreements throughout the agency, develop and implement related policy, and provide expertise in federal financial assistance management to complete the program.

Duties

Collaborates with agency leadership and division directors for the review, clearance, and posting of NEH notices of funding opportunities (NOFOs) on Grants.gov. Creates and maintains NOFO templates consistent with NEH governing authorities and government-wide requirements. Collaborates closely with NEH division leadership and humanities administrators to ensure that NOFOs accurately and clearly convey program goals and outcomes. Consults regularly with program staff to ensure NOFOs adhere to negotiated timelines. Manages the development of internal and external grants management policies. Reviews application eligibility, completeness, and responsiveness recommendations from program staff against NOFO guidance.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. At the GS-14 level Qualified candidates must possess: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: serving as the subject matter expert on the laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and methods governing the administration of federal grants; communicating policies updates and best practices with all employees; ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and government-wide regulations; working with senior staff members on recommendations on Notice of Funding Opportunities (NOFO).
