AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a full-time, team based residential program for men and women ages 18 to 26. The program is designed to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. Corps members are assigned to one of 4 campuses located CO; CA; MS; and IA.
This position is located in the Department of the Chief Program Officer, Office of AmeriCorps NCCC in Aurora, CO.
Duties
The Deputy Region Director for Programming (DRD/P) oversees and supervises the planning and development of service projects throughout the Region. The DRD/P also oversees and supervises the development and delivery of training and Corps member development. Primary duties include:
Develops and monitors the accomplishment of community service projects.
Performs community-based public liaison and marketing functions to identify and attract projects for the Region. Travels throughout the Region, networking to develop partnerships with local, state and Federal entities.
Supervises a staff of 4 to 6 professional and administrative support employees.
Works with the Region Director and Headquarters to develop an annual strategic plan for the development and successful accomplishment of service projects.
Formulates and manages the assigned budget.
Approves the training curriculum including project-specific training and standardized training such as CPR and First Aid.

- Satisfactory completion of a background investigation
- A 2 year probationary period is required for new Federal employees and new Federal supervisors. Both probationary periods run concurrently.
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the upper range of the NY-03 pay band, which would be at, or equivalent to, the GS-13 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must include all of the following: 1) Work experience that includes the responsibility for managing or supervising subordinates; and 2) Work experience fostering partnerships with external organizations, e.g., state or local government, community, non-profit organizations; and 3) Work experience developing, implementing and evaluating training programs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
