This position is part of the Interior Business Center (IBC), Human Resources Directorate (HRD), IBC HRD Personnel and Payroll Systems Division. The incumbent will be responsible for serving as a Senior Production Control Specialist with direct support of the development and maintenance of FPPS, JCL, Control -M Schedular, DataMart, QuickTime, WebTA, TRMS, Service Now, and file transfers.
Duties
Employee serves as an IT Specialist working in direct support of the development and maintenance of DataMart (data warehouse), QuickTime (time and attendance), TRMS (report management), REXX, SAS Programing, JCL (Job Control Language) and BMC software Control-M Scheduling in test and production on an IBM z/OS mainframe environment.
Responsible for a variety of IBM mainframe utilities, syncsort, FileAid, ISPF, TSO and FDR/ABR (backups and restores) for testing, production and maintenance activities. Oversees all processing procedures executed on IBM Mainframe Enterprise Server, providing technical expertise and performs studies to analyze system performance.
Supports the maintenance of the Job Control Language (JCL) on the IBM Mainframe System at an expert level. Based on modifications to functional requirements, the incumbent participates in the development of change specifications and modifies the appropriate JCL specifications to (test environment and eventually production once testing is completed) incorporate approved new requirements. Support in the design and resolution of any failure points, restart ability, and restore requirements.
Supports BMC Control-M/O/R scheduling software with development creating new and adding to table schedule. Able to set-up calendars, add JCL, and perform maintenance and handling any scheduling issues.
Accuracy and timeliness is critical to receipt of input and output to and from customers using Transfer methods: Secure File Transport Protocol (SFTP), Secure Transport and Connect-Direct data transmissions. Diagnosing, trouble-shooting and resolve problems on the spot to ensure input and output products are properly received or sent.
Qualifications
Basic Requirement: In addition to the specialized experience listed below, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. At the GS-12 level, you must meet the following qualification:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes but is not limited to assisting in the performance of IT system analyses for IT programs production and testing for performance improvements, utilizing Job Control Language (JCL), scheduling with Control-M or a similar mainframe application, and using IBM z/OS mainframe utilities such as TSO, ISPF, SDSF, SYNCSORT and FileAid.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
