About the Position: This is a Permanent position as an Operations Specialist (Watch Officer) located with US Army Central, G33, Current Operations and Integration Cell (COIC) Support Cell, Shaw AFB, SC.
Telework information: Situational Telework Only, Including emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed unscheduled telework.
Duties
Delivers precise verbal information and recommendations based upon sound analysis and research for G3, Command Group and staff.
Monitors, analyzes and evaluates all classified and unclassified message traffic and unclassified news service reports received by USARCENT.
Prepares, consolidates, and analyzes newsgroup and Automated Message Handling System (AMHS) message traffic.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance based upon a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
- Business travel up to 25% of the time. This position is deployable up to 12 months annually.

- This is a designated drug testing position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes work involving 1) monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating all classified and unclassified message traffic 2) monitoring deployment and operations of forces and resources committed in support of named military operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminology or Communication.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
