You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the METRO PRODUCTION OFFICE of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST. Salary Range for GS-11: $82, 633 - $107,421 Salary Range for GS-09: $68,297 - 88,786

Duties

You will provide utility engineering technical assistance and serve as an advisory authority to installations across the NAVFAC SW Area of Responsibility (AOR). You will stand watch working first, second, or third shift per an established rotating schedule. You will utilize the command and control functions of Micro Grid to manage demand reduction and response operations based on variable supply conditions and time-of-use pricing, including the ability to pass price signal data on to consumers. You will operate and Monitor and Operate Supervisory and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system(s) to interpret and troubleshoot system data, alarms and warnings and work with field crews to perform operations. You will communicate both orally and in writing problems and solutions to management and first responders. You will play an integral part of day-to-day utilities operations from a central command point, located in an office environment. You will use common computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) to create documents and reports.

Qualifications

To be considered for GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Maintaining and operating mechanical distribution systems and equipment, and electrical distribution systems and equipment up to 69KV; 2) Applying safety practices and procedures with utility distribution systems, high and low voltage electrical and mechanical utility distribution; 3) Reading and understanding engineering drawings, sketches, specifications, material lists, job/task orders, electrical one lines and other utility system drawings; 4.) Working with utility monitoring systems such as Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or equivalent; 4) Interpreting, troubleshooting and disseminating information concerning alarms and warnings, engineering graphics, computer aided design (CAD), geographic information systems (GIS), Microsoft Office software including Access, Excel, Word; 5) Communicating clearly and effectively in order to formulate and present findings, briefings, narrative reports, and production summaries / metrics. To be considered for GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Collecting and analyzing data to include electrical load, and provide reports on utility purchasing, demand reduction and utility operations; 2) Reviewing and approving electrical device switching packages; 3) Assisting in writing scheduled and unscheduled switching packages; 4) Answering calls, determining what the problem or request is and taking appropriate action.
