Duties

Analyze Army systems for Privacy Information content and compliance with published directives. Evaluate information disclosure, access and safeguarding issues in terms of cited legislation and content to determine legislative applicability thereto. Respond to requests for information disclosure pursuant to the Privacy Act of 1974. Analyze and responds to requests where release and disclosure policy has been established, Process requests for information utilizing the requirements of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Privacy Act (PA). Screen material prior to release to ensure that documents are releasable and do not conflict with the exemptions of the FOIA/PA. Research U.S. Codes, directives, Army Regulations, and judicial decisions in the course of answering requests for information. Drafts replies to basic requests for information.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel may be required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes respond to request to disclose information in compliance with the Privacy Act (PA) of 1974; examine laws or court decisions affecting policy or execution of organizations PA program; and screen materials prior to release to ensure compliance with established PA program procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration or Communications. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ComplianceManages and Organizes InformationProblem Solving Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
