Duties
Reviews instructions and related paperwork to determine materials needed to accomplish maintenance and repair work. Initiates requests for material procurement, and insures thatdelivery is coordinated with schedules. Checks materials indicated on job orders or material lists to be sure that it is complete and correct for the work to be done. Checks material request list for work request number, cost center number and type of funding (APF or NAF). Initiates procurement of materials by preparing request forms. Refers to parts lists, manufacturers¿ catalogs, websites, material specifications, and similar sources. May telephone suppliers to locate and secure prices on needed materials. Chooses a vendor and obtains pricing and availability of materials. Initiates purchase order request for authorizing signature for the purchase of materials. Calls vendor and places order(s), logs order on log sheet form by call number, vendor and description of materials. Picks up materials and/or supplies and delivers either to the job site or back to maintenance shop. Verifies that purchase has been made and obtains approximate due/delivery date. May contact contract vendors for job estimates of materials and labor. Prepares purchase orders for job contract and submits to contracting officer. Advises the Maintenance Manager/Leader when materials are on hand so that the work may be scheduled. Assists supervisor in determining appropriate substitute material(s). Maintains file of manufacturers¿ catalogs, parts lists, material specifications and similar documents. May arrange for necessary work permits or safety clearances and notifies affected parties prior to start of work.

Qualifications
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of the maintenance trades to perform above listed duties. Must have knowledge of personal computer to perform spreadsheet programs and work with various types of forms. Must have experience in supply ordering, purchasing and material handling. Must be able to prepare, verify, validate, and submit forms and billing statements for processing and/or payment. Must have ability to qualify for operators licenses to operate all equipment. Must possess ability to communicate with civilian personnel, contractors, and military personnel in a high-paced work environment. Must maintain a valid California driver's license. RESPONSIBILITY: Works under general supervision. The majority of the work is performed independently where the incumbent makes decisions based on personal knowledge. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts up to and in excess of 50 lbs., occasionally lifts in excess of 75 lbs. Work requires bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, and lifting. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors and outdoors, driving short and sometimes long distances, often in extreme weather. Work often requires exposure to dust, dirt and greasyconditions. The nature of this work carries with it the potential of injury such as cuts, scrapes and bruises. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
