Duties
You will disassemble pumps to replace or repair motors, worn impellers, shafts, bearings, gland seals, and ream bearings.
You will perform tests on interior electrical wiring and wiring systems to identify any necessary repairs.
You will measure wood, composite, and wood substitutes to cut into useable items (e.g., frame structures, decking, partitions, shelving, doors, forms, sliding, and scaffolds).
You will follow federal and state rules when storing, using, handling, labeling, and disposing of hazardous materials and waste to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
You will use brushes and rollers to paint different types of surfaces (e.g. wood, drywall, plaster, metal, concrete, asphalt, masonry, fiberglass, plastic, and glass).
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position requires the employee to possess the applicable license(s), certification(s) or authorization(s) to operate assigned equipment and accomplish assigned duties.
- You must possess or be able to obtain County Backflow Prevention Certification and Respiratory Protection Certification.
- You must complete American Water Works Association Training in Identifying Potential Pollutant Hazards in Potable Water Systems with Connection of Non-Potable Sources.
- Misuse of Government IT systems is cause for disciplinary action, to include removal.
- You will frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
- You will work inside and outside, sometimes in bad weather and in areas that are noisy, dirty, dusty, and greasy.
