Duties
You will conduct tests of installed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical equipment to verify compliance with technical orders and local procedures.
You will apply solvents, chemicals, or pre-coating agents (e.g., paint, varnish, epoxy, teflon, paint remover, anti-growth agents) to maintain the physical condition of buildings and prevent deterioration.
You will use digital infrared thermometer to check the heating and cooling efficiency of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC R) equipment.
You will read and interpret blueprints, drawings, or specifications to plan and complete assigned work.
You will operate tools and equipment following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You are required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final CONFIDENTIAL security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Frequently is required to perform heaving lifting up to 50 pounds, over 50 pounds with assistance.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Must complete American Water Works Association Training in Identifying Potential Pollutant Hazards in Potable Water Systems with Connection of Non-Potable Sources. AND May be required to obtain County Backflow Prevention Certification.
- Must possess the applicable license(s) certification(s) or authorizations(s) to operate assigned equipment and accomplish assigned duties.
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform common tasks including adjusting, repairing, unclogging, and replacing leaky joints, faucets, commodes, urinals, and drains. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
