About the Position: Serves as Assistant Executive Officer to an Army Materiel Command (AMC) Deputy Chief of Staff (HQ Staff Principal GO/SES-level). This position is located in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

Duties

Assist in the management of complex projects, studies, and action items, keeping the G6, Principal Deputy G6, and executive officer informed. Advise on a variety of essential management services to include records management, IT services, telecommunications, security, facility management, supply and logistics, manpower utilization and control, and administrative internal controls. Perform a variety of administrative duties and processes at the General Officer/Senior Executive Service level and ensures procedures meet office needs. Serve as Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder and review transactions to ensure accounting documents are correct and in compliance with governing regulations, policies, and procedures. Prepare Defense Travel System (DTS) travel orders, make travel and lodging arrangements, and arrange and coordinate schedule of visits. Work directly with the Executive Officer regarding all aspects of administrative management including ETMS2 tasker tracking and packet routing.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, finance, or human resources. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcript). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
