About the Position: Serves as an Administrative Officer/Assistant Executive Officer for the Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief Information Officer (CIO), a Senior Executive Service (SES) position, providing administrative, timekeeping, budgeting, training, and clerical and office automation support using a variety of processes, methods, and techniques. This position is located in Redstone Arsenal, Alamba.
Duties
Assist in the management of complex projects, studies, and action items, keeping the G8, Deputy G8, and executive officer informed.
Advise on a variety of essential management services to include records management, IT services, telecommunications, security, facility management, supply and logistics, manpower utilization and control, and administrative internal controls.
Perform a variety of administrative duties and processes at the General Officer/Senior Executive Service level and ensures procedures meet office needs.
Serve as Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder and review transactions to ensure accounting documents are correct and in compliance with governing regulations, policies and procedures.
Prepare defense travel system (DTS) travel orders, make travel and lodging arrangements, and arrange and coordinate schedule of visits.
Work directly with the Executive Officer regarding all aspects of administrative management including TMT tasker tracking and packet routing.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Providing advice and assistance on the processes and procedures of performance management systems (e.g., DoD Performance Management and Appraisal Program (DPMAP); (2) Utilizing an automated financial management system (e.g., General Fund Enterprise Business System) to assist the organization with budget management such as preparing, justifying, or executing project's budget; (3) Managing government purchase cards for an office, and (4) Knowledge of Defense Travel System (DTS) to prepare travel orders and process travel vouchers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: business administration, finance, or human resources. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
