To serve as a support member of the nursing team a the Blackfeet Community Hospital. The incumbent will perform duties under the direction of the RN's and is an assistant to the Physician, mid-level provider or nurse when professional skills of a physician, mid-level provider, or nurse are not required.

Duties

Provides medical care based on the assessment of data reflective of the patients status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age specific needs. Provides care as instructed or as described in OPD policies and procedures. Completed tasks that are of a clerical and technical support to the Medical and Nursing staff. Records and monitors vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, pain assessment, weight, and height). Stocks supplies and cleans exam rooms between patients to ensure availability. Monitors supplies and notifies the Charge Nurse and/or nurse supervisor of supply needs. Cleans instruments and equipment as needed. Answers telephones, takes messages and provides physician, mid-level provider, or nurse with appropriate information as needed. Assists in emergency situations, including CPR and other lifesaving maneuvers. Provides emotional support and reassurance to patients as needed. Recognizes and initiates emergency procedures during cardiopulmonary arrest, external or internal disaster, bomb threat and/or other emergencies and assists the RN during these occurrences.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as medical officers. Therefore, technicians experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the positions to be filled. OR Education and Training For GS-3: Successful completion of 1 year of study that included study in medical, health, or related fields. For GS-4: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position OR update patient electronic health record with physician findings in diagnostic tests and maintain laboratory data files; inspect clinic equipment to ensure operational and sterilized; administer advanced lifesaving treatment to patients; administer medication to patient in accordance with physician instructions. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
