About the Position: Purpose of this position is to provide project coordination and technical expertise in support of the installation's storm water and wastewater programs.

Duties

Provide follow-up inspections to determine that the appropriate level of compliance is achieved. Participate in the containment and clean-up of spills as a member of the Environmental Spill Response Team. Advise the On-Scene Coordinator regarding pollution prevention actions where a spill or accidental release occurred. Review project submittals, technical reports, and laboratory analyses for compliance impacts related to the installation's environmental permits and associated regulations. Prepare draft pollution prevention plans and provide input to the Clean Water Team Supervisor on annual requirements. Perform sampling, inspections, and other permit required activities needed to comply with Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Wastewater and Storm Water permits.

  • Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver’s license and any installation and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle being driven.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying environmental laws and regulations; and investigate violations of environmental program requirements in various capacities such as Spill Prevention Control, Storm Water Management, Environmental Protection, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Microbiology, Chemistry, Physics, Geosciences, or Engineering. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). All applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcements. Current employees applying under VEOA are subject to time-in-grade restrictions like any other GS employee.
