You will serve as a Electronics Mechanic in the Submarine Network and Module Repair Shop (67L), Command and Control Systems (CCS) Digital Repair Division (TRF-720), Weapons Repair Department (TRF-700) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will troubleshoot, analyze, and determine repair actions required to correct malfunctions in integrated systems/subsystems. You will interpret complex drawings and sketches to create new ones. You will coordinate with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting operating specifications and changes of equipment. You will be responsible for coordinating work assignments and provide technical assistance to lower/same grade employees or military personnel. You will provide oral and/or written progress reports to the supervisor as required.

  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) or relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT Level II certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
  • A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. * Ability to apply quality assurance programs. * Ability to utilize knowledge of shipboard systems including hydraulics, navigation, radio, fire control, and 60 and 400 HZ electrical systems applicable to the work. * Ability to use computers and various programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. * Ability to exercise judgement and independence when determining solutions to maintenance and repair problems which are complicated by interactions of various complex electronic equipment. * Ability to use a wide variety of precision electronic test instruments to affect repairs, overhaul, modification and alignment.
