You will serve as an ELECTRONICS MECHANIC in the WEAPONS REPAIR DEPARTMENT of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will troubleshoot, analyze, and determine repair actions required to correct malfunctions in the towed array handling systems of TRIDENT SSBN/SSGN submarines. You will utilize test equipment such as: Oscilloscopes, voltmeters, ohmmeters, spectrum analyzer, Advanced Dual Towed Array Simulator II (ADTAS II), Radio Frequency (RF). You will utilized selective frequency analyzer, impedance bridge, capacitance bridge, pneumatic pressure test set, megohmmeter, random noise generator, DC power supply, RF generators, step attenuator, and associated systems/subsystems test equipment You will perform routine maintenance specified by the equipment manufacturer, RIREFFAC maintenance requirement procedures, or shipboard maintenance requirement cards. You will be required to accomplish other related tasks within the department as deemed necessary and assigned by the shop supervisor. You will repair, overhaul, rebuild, modify, mate, calibrate, and align all operable subsystems of the towed array handling systems. You will monitor interrelated subsystems and analyze operating trends to isolate malfunctions or to verify conformance to specifications. You will operate individual subsystems of the towed array handling systems in order to run required diagnostic checks and routines. You will evaluate maintenance and diagnostic programs when required. You will study technical data and equipment specifications to determine the impact that equipment and modifications or substitutions will have on total system operation, various maintenance, and alignment procedures. You will coordinate repairs, modifications, testing, and alignments with other shop personnel and trades in order to obtain proper interfacing with other systems/subsystems.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current certification in solder and cable termination as required by Weapons Repair Department instructions.
