You will serve as a Inventory Management Specialist to a project support team in the job Readiness Coordination (JRC) Branch (Code 530.1) for the Project Support Division (Code 530) in the Supply Department (Code 500) at the NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will plan, evaluate, and select appropriate locations for storing items associated with the repair and maintenance of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines, surface ships and submersibles.
You will perform status checks of material to ensure material is ready for issue upon completion of material needs review.
You will coordinate production and material handlers to ensure timely and convenient material delivery (e.g. direct material issue, consumables, and hazardous material (HAZMAT).
You will report on material vending and ensure correct items are vended.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience with managing multiple streams of ongoing work, setting priorities, and delegating effectively.
Experience with planning the layout of storage areas and advising on ways to improve the efficiency and economy of the distribution and storage operations.
Experience with demonstrating to use of inventory principles, policies and procedures.
Experience with using Material Access Technology and Advanced Industrial Management software.
Experience communicating work packaging, tooling and material handling rules for all material types, to include HAZMAT.
