You will serve as a INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Job Readiness Coordination (JRC) Branch (Code 530.1), Project Support Division (Code 530), Supply Department (Code 500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will serve as the primary coordinator for all rip-out material leaving and returning to ships or submarines during maintenance availability.
You will ensure material control tag/radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are completed and attached.
You will verify status, destination, and storage needs of all rip-out material with mechanics and project supervisors.
You will schedule movement of material from availability to multiple locations on or off the shipyard with superintendents, JRC leads, planners, material handlers, and Defense Logistics Agency Distribution (DDPV).
You will input information to record both short and long term storage items in the appropriate system of record.
You will compare all material control tags with inputs into the designated APSR to verify accuracy of information.
You will provide training to project personnel on proper rip-out procedures, transportation, and storage of material.
You will serve as project Piermaster.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience interpreting information from the Job Readiness Coordinator (JRC) and Daily Priority List to track and pull material.
Experience reconciling material with kit inventories in material envelopes to identify late or missing Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) distribution deliveries.
Experience performing status checks of material to ensure it is ready for issue.
Experience ensuring delivery of materials are timely and accurate.
Experience storing, shipping, scheduling, and issuing material to aid in repair of naval vessels and submarines.

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.M., if related
