You will serve as a Supervisory Inventory Management Specialist in the Job Readiness Coordination Branch (Code 530.1), Project Support Division (Code 530), Supply Department (Code 500) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will serve as the primary point of contact for intake and delivery of kitted material to a project team. You will plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee all JRC functions to ensure timely implementation of project plans and to mitigate risks affecting the accomplishment of project objectives. You will attend project meetings for critical nuclear and nonnuclear work to ensure readiness actions started in a timely manner to support he work. You will communicate readiness issues affecting t the scheduled start of the job to project teams. You will lead coordination with work packaging, work control, and project leadership to ensure the JRC is correctly receiving and executing material requirements. You will serve as a first level supervisor by performing a full range of technical and administrative functions. You will plan work, set and adjust priorities, evaluate work performance, advise and counsel employees on both work and administrative matters, hear and resolve complaints from employees, and identify training needs.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with production methods, procedures, and material and equipment required for Shipyard repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels. Experience planning and managing work schedules, materials, and technical work instructions to accomplish projects. Experience with material planning, acquisition, storage, delivery, kitting, and issue, as well as material technical work instructions, funding principles, and procedures necessary to organize and manage and ensure material required for each job is provided when needed. Experience using office automation systems and applications including Microsoft Office Suite. Experience communicating appropriately, effectively, persuasively, and diplomatically both orally and in writing.
