You will serve as an INVENTORY MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Nuclear Material Support Branch Code 2305.2 of the Nuclear Material Management Division Code 2305 within the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department, Code 2300 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will manage and direct actions required to receive and place SX components into a Ready For Issue (RFI) condition, to maintain stock records, and to initiate actions for redistribution, disposal or for nationwide shipments. You will be responsible for the complete inventory management, technical and administrative, of all Nuclear Reactor Plant components and material. You will be responsible for receiving material from various sources and initiating action to ensure material is inspected, tested, refurbished, and certified. You will attend work conferences in order to monitor performance, disseminate priorities and ensure that workload schedules correspond with fleet and stock system requirements. You will provide analysis, reports and other information regarding stock management as required by higher authority for program assessment. You will utilize computer-based programs to maintain records and produce data for analysis and presentations to management. You will track shipments, obtains shipping information, e.g. carrier and tracking numbers assigned to the shipment to relay to vested parties.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying policies and procedures applicable to inventory management. Experience in the supply systems, including stock control, procurement and transportation. Experience applying nuclear material control regulations and other policies. Experience working with enterprise Business System (EBS), Receipt Inspection Management System (RIMS), Material Access Technology (MAT), or similar systems. Experience applying and interpreting security regulations relating to the safeguarding and handling of classified and nuclear propulsion plant information (NNPI). Experience using basic mathematics and how to apply them to computation of statistics and other necessary computations required for proper inventory management.
