This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Assistant Registrar you will be responsible for providing assistance to the Office of the Registrar to meet the education goals and objectives of Haskell Indian Nations University.
Duties
As a Assistant Registrar GS-1701-9, your typical work assignments may include the following:
Demonstrating good customer service skills in handling the day-to-day traffic along with correspondence and telephone calls.
Handling documents and files that will be coming in or leaving the office. The documents and files will need to be handled, filed, and processed within one business day.
Dealing with student information and making sure the data is entered correctly into the student information system.
Working with various databases and computer software to help the students, faculty, and Registrar complete tasks, projects, and reports.
Reading and following various policies and procedures to help students and faculty with various processes.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position.
OR
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-9: Applicant must meet the basic education requirement and possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service that includes: Performing complex administrative duties in support of the Registrar; Demonstrating customer skills when addressing and responding to students, faculty, and visitors; Assisting with answering telephones and email correspondence; Preparing reports for the Registrar projects; Working with various automated systems, ensuring data entries are complete and accurate, processing transfer credits for admitted students and maintaining student records and documents according to policy.
OR
EDUCATION: Possess 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. Completion of graduate level education in the amounts shown is qualifying if it provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
OR
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Only graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be combined with experience.
Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

EDUCATION: Transcripts
