This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Vice President of Academic Affairs you will be responsible for serving as the chief academic officer and deputy director for the Haskell Indian Nations University and exercising full and final signature authorityand responsibility for the University's academic programs, including planning, organizing,coordinating, implementation and assessment of associate and baccalaureate degree programs.

Duties

As a Vice President of Academic Affairs GS-1701-15, your typical work assignments may include the following: Serves as the immediate supervisor for seven first-level supervisors, which in turn supervise a base of up to 80 employees. Offices under the Vice President of Academics include: College of Natural and Social Sciences; College of Humanities; College of Education and Health Sciences; College of Business, the Academic Support Center; the Office of Admissions; and the Office of the Registrar. Serves as the expert advisor to the President in the areas of academics, student success, enrollment management, and University and specialized accreditations. Provides the President with authoritative information, alternatives and recommendations on the current and long-term trends and plans pertaining to academic programming and student success. Serves as the conduit between Faculty Senate and Academic Administration to ensure shared governance practices related to academic policies, academic practices, academic freedom, and student success initiatives are maintained. Shares responsibility with the President and Academic Deans for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and controlling all academic grants, academic research, and academic extension programs at the University. Ensures quality academic and co-curricular program review and assessment practices and schedules are being implemented throughout the University. Works closely with the Faculty Senate, Academic Standards Committee, Curriculum Committee, and Deans to ensure program review, learning outcome assessment, and course evaluation are conducted regularly, and in a manner that ensures the University maintains relevant and valuable academic programming, while adhering to current accreditation standards. Responsible for the oversight of all budgetary and finance activities within the Division of Academics, develops a comprehensive budgetary plan for the Division of Academics, and is the personnel manager for the Division of Academics. Works with the Academic Standards Committee, Faculty Senate, and Deans to ensure that all academic policies are up to date, regularly reviewed, and adhere to the University mission. Represents the University and President, as an expert on academic programs and various committees and boards. Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position; OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-15: One (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position, equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal services and involves experience managing the operations of academics in higher education. Examples of specialized experience should include: providing authoritative and knowledgeable leadership within academics in higher education; serving as an academic dean or administrator of equal or higher level within a college/university with responsibility for the leadership, management, planning, organizing, and directing of all operations, faculty, staff, and programs within academics; administering academic programs and academic program review; management over budgetary planning and management of finances, grants, and other funding sources; direct experience in a college/university as a lead or author for accreditation processes; management of academic and student success policies; compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements for the successful operations of academics and academic programming; experience authoring professional and institutional documents as a lead author, communication with key stakeholders, experience managing research plans, analyzing data, applying analytics, evaluating program review and assessments, and implementing new academic programming; must have at least 1 year of teaching experience in higher education. Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education
