This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education. As an Athletic Program Director you will be responsible for serving as the Director of the intercollegiate athletics program for Haskell Indian Nations University (Haskell), fostering high standards of integrity of competitive athletics program, athletic excellence and academic success.

Duties

As an Athletic Program Director GS-1701-12, your typical work assignments may include the following: Supervises, evaluates, and recruits all staff and coaches under the Department of Athletics. Provides appropriate training, guidance, and mentoring to employees to maintain and improve work performance. Responsible for establishing policies and procedures in accordance all relevant federal, state, local, NAIA, Conference, and University policy. Plans, oversees, and documents all athletic budget allocations in accordance with regulations. Responsible for oversight and scheduling of athletic contests, athletics logistics and operations, safety, travel of each athletic team and respective coaches, and other management functions of the Department of Athletics in accordance with all relevant federal, state, local, NAIA, Conference, and University policy.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position; OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-12: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience should include: responsible for leadership of an athletic program including the management and administration, training plans, recruitment and retention of student athletes, resources; athletic development and assessment; maintenance of effective relationships with professional athletic programs, administration and support with administration measure of intercollegiate sport competition and regulations, tribal communities and other stakeholders. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education
