This position is part of the Haskell Indian Nations University, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). As a Supervisory Instructor you will be responsible for serving as the Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences under the Division of Academics at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Duties

As a Supervisory Instructor GS-1701-12, your typical work assignments may include the following: Accountable to the Vice President of Academics (VPA), for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of the College of Natural and Social Sciences ensuring that it complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Responsible for academic leadership in the College of Natural and Social Sciences (including the Geography certificate, General Education courses, and Social Work, Natural Science, Indigenous and American Indian Studies, and Environmental Sciences degree programs) Maintenance of productive administrative relations and with other units and staff of Haskell, including shared governance in the University. Develops goals and objectives that integrate with the University's mission framework, institutional outcomes, and objectives. Plans and directs technical/professional work associated with a post-secondary academic instructional program segment (College of Natural and Social Sciences) under the academic program division (Division of Academics) for Haskell.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the OPM approved alternative qualification requirements for professional instructor positions classified in the GS-1701 General Education and Training Series at Haskell Indian Nations University and the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute. For this position, they are listed below. BASIC REQUIREMENTS Master's Degree in the work field identified for course instruction, that included a major study in the appropriate specialty education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position (typically a degree in the field of Natural and Social Sciences); OR A master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the field of Natural and Social Sciences. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications requirements below. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. GS-12: Applicant must meet the basic education requirement and possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service that includes: Providing leadership and management for faculty and staff involving program planning, teaching, curriculum development, instructional scheduling, staff coverage, evaluating instructional efforts, and reviewing results; Supervision and administration of academic programs and resources, program development and assessment; Executing major work assignments, projects, and development activities that affect significant internal and external programs and policies; Advising and assisting faculty in the planning, creation, evaluation, validation and updating of instructional materials and media; Identifying areas where academic research is required to update curriculum and conducting research studies to assess validity and viability of requirements. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education
