The certified or licensed incumbent in this position serves as a Drug/Alcohol Therapist, who is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team within the Great Plains Area Youth Regional Treatment Center (GPAYRTC) located in Mobridge, SD. Must be available for days, evening and weekend work, and may be subject to "call back" duty in emergency situations. Schedules typically include one day of the weekend.
Duties
Provides and documents therapeutic/clinical services consistent with all applicable IHS, GPAYRTC and other applicable accrediting body policies and procedures. Such services include but are not limited to, assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy for patients and their families, educational presentations, therapeutic interventions.
Attends and participates in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings, provides updates to staff about resident behavior, and helps staff both track and ensure residents appropriate progress in treatment.
Provide education/training for staff as well as various entities from the surrounding communities, i.e., schools, churches, public interest organizations, etc

Basic Requirements
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
or
Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
or
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-9: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: Provides outpatient treatment services and coordinates/monitors inpatient treatment, which involves being aware of a large number of factors regarding the patient, family, and community, and balancing all the needs and resources in a complex interaction. Experience with patients who require treatment to alleviate the disruptive behavior associated with Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse dependency, to resolve related problems, and to establish a life-long recovery process.
GS-11: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples Include: Coordinates and monitors treatment services such as assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, educational presentations, therapeutic interventions, medication administration and follow ups.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
Possesses an active and unrestricted license as a Licensed Addiction Counselor or Licensure equivalency as identified through the International Certification and Reciprocity consortium (IC&RC).
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
