The primary purpose of this position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Work requires journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and craft areas including carpentry, plumbing, painting, roofing, building and utility maintenance work located in Manhattan Sites, in the Facilities Division.
This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment.
Duties
Construct, alter, modify or repair a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities in accordance with the accepted practices of the applicable trades and crafts areas.
Construct, repair, and replace floors, shelving, rafters, stairways, doors, windows, and roofs.
Install, modify, and repair new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as potable and wastewater distribution systems and related equipment such as mains, valves, storage tanks, floats, fittings, sinks, and toilets.
Independently perform all phases of painting such as surface preparation, spraying, brushing, rolling, mixing, matching, stains, the selection of paints, oil or latex, rust prevention, etc.
Perform incidental duties related to facilities, roads, walkway, and parking lot maintenance during weather-related incidents, including snow and debris removal.
