About the Position: This position is in the Naval Medical Center Office of Dir of Executive Quality Management, San Diego, California.

Duties

Provide analytical, administrative, and technical support for Medical Staff Services (MSS) and advises the Head / Assistant Head for MSS on matters related to management of the Credentials Program. Assist and coordinate in the management of the Credentials Review and Privileging Program of licensed or credentialed healthcare professionals. Verify information on the medical education and specialized training of all practitioners who request hospital privileges to ensure authenticity. Review contractor's verification of education, training and licensure of prospective employees to determine the adequacy of their investigation. Assist in the completion of the Performance Appraisal Report System (PARS)/Clinical Appraisal Report (CAR) for members of the medical, nursing and allied health staff.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes the management of a Credentials Review and Privileging Program for licensed or credentialed healthcare professionals assisting with reviewing and verifying credentialed or privileged personnel ensuring compliance with all protocols, laws and regulations to include proper granting, renewal, modification and appointment for all healthcare providers assigned or employed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Health Administration, Human Resource, or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Organizational AwarenessTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
