About the Position: This is an Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) position located in San Diego, California.

Duties

Ensure all required documentation is completed and processed according to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the assigned department by establishing and maintaining logs showing the status of actions and correspondence. Respond to routine and ad-hoc requests for information independently, such as report status, suspense dates for matters requiring compliance, and similar information available from files or databases. Provide authorized information from files, records, spreadsheets, or databases independently by following established regulations and departmental policies or procedures for tracking commitments and ensuring they are met. Process drafts, worksheets, and memorandums in final form on short notice. Work closely with responsible department to confirm availability of travel funds and process travel requests.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Human Resources, or Public Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Information ManagementOrganizational AwarenessTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
