Duties
As a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST you will:
Manage the day-to-day operation of all NACI and Public Trust processing for the Personnel Security and Suitability Office.
Review, analyze and resolve difficult and complex personnel security issues.
Coordinate with employees and contractors to ensure proper processing through the personnel security office.
Determine the suitability and eligibility of individual for entry and retention in noncritical, critical sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
Perform the final adjudication decision for Physical Security credentialing for the Internal and HHS PIV/Smartcard in accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) - 12.
Develop and implement security policies and programs for application to a variety of environments and locations.
Communicate actively with others to provide advice, guidance, and training on relevant security knowledge and problems.
Conduct detailed assessment and evaluation of security programs.
Establish and monitor operating personnel security systems to meet specific needs.
Research and implement new and improved personnel security methods and procedures.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, which must include the following experience: resolving personnel security system processes and procedures and responding to personnel security and position sensitivity issues.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
