You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the PERSONNEL SECURITY DIVISION, SECURITY DIRECTORATE of US FLEET CYBER COMMAND. This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f.

Duties

You will support the Special Security Officer by identifying the need for protection and security and developing and maintaining the physical means used for protection and security. You will develop, implement, and maintain procedural and technical methods to enhance physical protection. You will assess reliability, loyalty, suitability, and trustworthiness of persons who have access to sensitive or classified information and material which could adversely affect national security, public welfare, or efficiency of Federal service. You will assess the damage done to national security when information or material has been compromised or sabotaged. You will lead processes that involve the safeguarding of information, personnel, facilities, property, materials, and other assets from theft, loss, misuse, fraud, disclosure, or espionage. You will assure that the employment of personnel (military, civilian, and contractors), and their access to secured information/assets, is aligned with their clearance level and “need to know”. You will provide substantial contributions to determinations regarding the suitability and security eligibility of employees in special sensitive positions that are critical to national security. You will identify security gaps, specify requirements to address/mitigate deficiencies, implement corrective measures, and conduct follow-up actions. You will adjudicate security classification recommendations established by program managers. You will exercise responsibility for the requirements of the security and integrity of remote secure locations, as applicable. You will support the command’s security education program by conducting annual security training, both in-person and via other communication avenues. You will provide continuing oversight and control of classified materials, including handling and storage.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) certification as required within the timeframes defined in DoDM 3305.13-M and complete continuing education annually to maintain the certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by: -Experience preventing the penetration of computer systems for espionage, sabotage or fraudulent purposes as a Special Security Officer, Alternate/Assistant Special Security Officer or Certificated Adjudicator. -Experience analyzing, selecting, adapting, and applying physical, personnel, information systems, and operational security concepts and methods for tailoring policies for the technical field of sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security program operations supporting cyber/intelligence mission. -Experience utilizing government security clearance databases such as Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) to conduct analysis needed to address compliance issues, identify trends, and forecast workforce security requirements. -Experience in granting, denying, revoking, suspending or restricting security clearances based on adjudicative criteria. This position is within the Work Category PROFESSIONAL at Work Level FULL PERFORMANCE, Series and Grade GG-0080-12.
