About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and -operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813.
Duties
Oversees and supervises activities directly related to the manufacture of weapons and/or other defense or non-defense items in prototype and production modes. Provides input for quotes in terms of methods, processes, time, delivery schedules, etc.
Directs the activities of several manufacturing, assembly and preservation and packaging elements to manufacture and/or modify assigned cannon/mortar barrels, major and minor items, components and/or assemblies.
Oversees and directs activities responsible for maintenance/preventive maintenance of production equipment; the acquisition, storage and installation of all component materials and operating supplies.
Promotes and facilitates the implementation of quality management philosophies to achieve continuous improvement and increased product value. Promotes management roles and responsibilities that will facilitate strategic change.
Studies and interprets policy statements, regulations, and other regulatory material to determine their intent and effect in operations, to recommend advantageous use of options and initiate requests for the removal or modification of provisions.
Develops and implements quality plan in support of continuous quality improvement and reduced costs to include procedures, analyses, corrective actions, audits and continuous certification to determine quality standards.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment Drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident
