This position is located under the supervision of the Deputy Chief of Staff within the Chief of Staff Office. The incumbent is responsible for the overall coordination and oversight of implant inventory within the facility, including biological and non-biological products, per regulatory agency and VHA requirements.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to :
Full operation and management of all organic tissue use at the Medical Center.
Utilize Unique Device Identifier (UDI) to manage and track all biological implant devices in the Medical Center.
Responsibility for managing, coordinating, controlling, and purchasing a variety of medical, general, and/ in occasions pharmaceutical supplies to support assigned.
Responsible for ensuring that existing consignments are used or returned to vendors prior to expiration date of the implant.
Will be the Surgical Service liaison for implant recalls, alerts, and withdrawals, independently taking immediate action in "notification of attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and SPS staff concerning the recall.
Responsible for; closely working with attending physicians, residents, Cath Lab staff, operating room nursing staff, vendors, and any other affected staff; conducting research to ensure appropriate implantable devices are requested; to obtain best pricing meeting all VA/VHA socioeconomic goals; to observe all mandatory contracts; to meet all quality assurance concerns; and, to obtain items in a timely fashion
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/26/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience utilizing Microsoft access and excel, knowledge of VA Directives and VA Handbooks, experience with inventory management and with statistical and analytical processes. Experience and knowledge of fiscal budgeting and accounting procedures. OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond 1 year of graduate level education.

Physical Requirements: ???????The work is administrative in nature and often sedentary. However, walking, carrying, stooping, bending and reaching are required to carry out the inventorying, receiving, and stocking the areas assigned. The activities include physical inspection of merchandise received at the dock, movement of palletized cartons, operation of common materiel handling equipment (pallet jack, carts, etc.), unpacking of outer shipping containers, and stocking customer's shelves. The incumbent may lift and carry items that weigh up to 40 pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
