This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for consultant to management in support of the JDAT IT applications software development, implementation issues, policy and plans.

Duties

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated October 15, 2021. As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSANALYSIS/PLCYPLN) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include: Develops comprehensive long and short range system plans and support projects. Determines overall functional and systems requirements and specifications as well as overall technical feasibility and economic viability of proposed projects. Specifies milestones, appropriate data formats, systems interface plans, detailed system layouts, and test plans. Continually assesses policy needs and interprets broad DoD, Joint Staff, Services and other guidance and applies it through development of policies for the area of responsibility. Consults and coordinates with project staff from other organizations and agencies in developing, revising, interpreting, and modifying policies to ensure application of local activities meet project needs.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS 12 , if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the 11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below: Identifying, assessing, and approving Joint military C2 requirements to establish appropriate priority levels; Leading identification, development, assessment, and management of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership and Education, Personnel, and Facilities (DOTMLPF) C4/cyber capability needs and collaboratively identifying solutions to address functional gaps and interoperability deficiencies; Applying statistical and evaluative methodologies of security, reliability, and utilization of systems to determine if organizational needs can be met by enhancing existing assets or if replacement is more cost effective. Advising and briefing on various reports including best acquisition strategies. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
