This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 SUPERVISORY THEATER AEROSPACE OPER CMD AND CNTRL OFFICER (MI 217 COS)(AGR Dual Bid 24-38), Position Description Number D1944000 and is part of the MI 110 Airlift Wing, Michigan Air National Guard.

Duties
***THIS IS A TITLE 32 NATIONAL GAURD POISITION THAT REQUIRES MILITARY MEMBERSHIP***
This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG), Component Numbered Air Force (cNAF), Air Operations Group (AOG), Combat Operations Squadron (COS). This unit has both a state and federal mission. The federal mission is to provide trained and qualified Air and Space Operations Center (AOC) Command and Control (C2) warriors to augment MAJCOM deployable AOCs worldwide at the operational level of war. The state mission is to provide support to civil authorities, as directed by the Governor, for disaster relief, public safety, search and rescue, and civil defense, and Continuity of Operations. This position requires mastery level knowledge of air campaign strategy, combat plans, combat operations and the integration of Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) assets required for successful execution. Must be trained and ready to function in a senior level position in a coalition AOC reporting to the Combined/Joint Force Air Component Commander (C/JFACC) at the 3-star level. Accordingly, must direct all actions that prepare unit members to perform at the operational level of war in an AOC. Responsibility to possess a working knowledge of all Air Force Weapon Systems and their capabilities, as well as a clear understanding of the systems and capabilities of other DOD components, NATO nations, and other coalition partners. This mastery level knowledge is required to sustain the development and execution of a daily Air Tasking Order for a minimum of 30 days at 500 missions per day. Due to the unique mission of the cNAF, this PD cannot be used in any other organization.
(1) Determines squadron goals for long- and short-range planning and execution of all programs.
(2) Provides direction and leadership to unit members, including full-time air technicians and AGRs as well as traditional Guardsmen.
(3) Accomplishes, through subordinate supervisors, the mission training program.
(4) Directs organizational mission capability through a series of extensive Air Force inspections.
(5) There is frequent contact with senior leadership in USAFE, PACAF, CENTCOM, Numbered Air Forces, NGB, and state JFHQ, often to establish policy or to advance unit operational initiatives to include reach back and Distributed Mission Operations (DMO).
(6) Maintains leading edge technology capability through cooperative exchanges with AF Research Labs for technology/ operational information and field testing and evaluation.
(7) Directs the formulation, presentation, justification and execution of the annual budget for the COS.
(8) Performs other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Michigan Air National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

Military Grades: O5 - O6
Security Clearance - Top Secret or ability to obtain clearance requirement within 1 year of appointment to position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Months Required: 36-54 Months
1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. Experience, education, or training routine and non-routine preflight, in-flight, post-flight, ground or command and control (C2) duties according to specific transportation functions. Receives, interprets, extracts, and disseminates relevant data for mission planning or execution. Experience coordinating and negotiating with organizations/personnel both orally and in writing to resolve differences/problems. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
