THIS IS AN AIR FORCE NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a TITLE 32 THEATER AEROSPACE OPERATIONS COMMAND AND CONTROL OFFICER (MI 110WG), Position Description Number NGD1504P01, NGD1503000 and is part of the MI 110 Airlift Wing, Michigan Air National Guard.

This position is located in an the Air National Guard (ANG), Component Numbered Air Force (cNAF),Air Operations Group (AOG), Air Operations Squadron (AOS), Air Mobility Squadron (AMOS) and Air Support Squadron (ASUS). Its paramount purpose is to provide instruction to upgrade skills to obtain maximum performance on all aspects of the force-level Air and Space Operations Center(AOC) weapons system.
1. Administers refresher and advanced training to ANG military AOC weapons systems positional specialists.
2. Interviews instructors, pilots, navigators, air battle managers, space operations specialists, and other assigned AOC personnel to determine operational background in their respective weapons systems/specialties.
3. Plans, develops, and presents comprehensive courses of instruction on AOC operations skills.
4. Projects unit training requirements. Prepares required training records.
5. Maintains a thorough knowledge of a variety of specialties to include general and advanced knowledge of AOC assigned weapons systems, U.S. and allied aircraft, space weapons systems, tactical employment of weapons systems, search and rescue, theater missile defense and air tasking order development and execution.
6. Coordinates, plans, and executes Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) and Reach back operations.
7. Briefs and instructs operations personnel on mission preparations including: combat effective mission execution.
8. Incumbents of this position are subject to rotation to perform administrative tasks in any or all of the following Air Operations Squadron program support functional areas:
(a) Interface Control: Responsible for the planning and management of datalink architecture for a theater of operations; incumbent integrates a variety of Command and Control display systems that enhance battlespace situational awareness in the AOC; supervises a team of trained specialists responsible for managing the interface equipment and resolving datalink picture anomalies; monitors the conduct of all players on the datalink network to ensure timely transfer and display of critical air defense information.
(b) Combat Plans: Exercises responsibility for the interpretation, coordination, and conduct of planning and execution for the functional areas; interpretation of higher headquarters' contingency and exercise campaign guidance; operational plan (OPLAN) and air operations order (OPORD)development; ATO generation and distribution; long range/deliberate/crisis action planning; and airspace command and control (C2).
(c) Combat Operations: Collects, reviews, and disseminates data on tactics and employment techniques for all weapons systems (friendly and enemy).
(d) Airspace Management: Responsible for integrating all allocated airspace for a given theater of operations, both CONUS and OCONUS.
(e) Strategy Exercise/Contingencies: Assists in the formulation of JFACC strategic guidance; versed in the interpretation of higher headquarters' contingency and exercise campaign guidance; Exercises a thorough understanding of AF doctrine and accepted procedures for the formulation of the Joint Air Operations Plan (JAOP) and Air Order Directive (AOD).
(f) AMD Airlift: Exercises responsibility for the planning and execution of intra-theater airlift missions in support of Director of Mobility Force (DIRMOBFOR) missions.
(g) AMD Air Refueling: Exercises responsibility for the planning and execution of Air Refueling missions required to support air campaign plan.
(h) May oversee the work of 1-3 personnel in the AMOS for less than 25% of the overall work time.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Plans work to be accomplished by the organization which consists of full-time subordinates engaged in technical and administrative work.
2. Develops long-range training and deployment plans for the unit to meet training goals, higher headquarters inspection schedules and overseas deployment requirements.
3. Serves as a Senior Operations advisor on the Commander's staff to coordinate operational exercises and contingency taskings.
4. Serves as the Operations representative on the Commander's Financial Management Board.
5. Develops and directs the force level weapons system implementation program in coordination with higher headquarters to meet approved employment concepts.
6. Oversees training of all assigned/attached AOC positionally assigned battle rostered personnel.
7. Monitors the implementation of an effective division safety program for all operations and related ground activities.
8.Develops division policy for flight management personnel to ensure effective and efficient administrative control of all flight documentation and individual flight records.
9. Must maintain positional certification and meet requirements as prescribed by applicable regulations and directives.

Minimum time required: 36 - 48 months

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
-- Incumbent is required to utilize and maintain current in-depth and integrated knowledge of:
- The in-flight handling characteristics and performance capabilities of all friendly and hostileaircraft used in the theater of operations of the assigned gaining command Air Operations Center;
- The techniques of air battle management command and control on a theater-wide basis incomplex, rapidly changing contexts; and
- The state of the art techniques of combat planning, combat operations, and theater aerospace warfare doctrine, as applicable to the gaining command.
-- Incumbent must also possess and exercise the skills and knowledge necessary to design and deliver effective training in areas of expertise, utilizing the latest and most technologically advanced training aids, materials, and equipment available in the subject matter area, innovating as necessary.
