The primary purpose of this position is to protect the organization from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information considered vital to mission interests, national defense and national security by serving as a Security Manager.
Duties
Implements and administers the Industrial Security Program supporting DoD and SAF/AQ Special Access Programs (SAP).
Develops and oversees local security policies and guidelines for highly classified programs using the generalized guidance provided by the Systems Program Office (SPO).
Responsible for development of security transportation plans, utilized for movement of highly classified assets.
As a Senior Security Specialist incumbent is responsible for ensuring proper implementation of the personnel security program, supporting DoD and SAF/AQ SAPs.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Administration Series 0080.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is experience in identifying and analyzing security deficiencies and preparing a comprehensive report to include recommended corrective actions; Setting up and conducting inspection results out-briefings for government/contractor management and insuring corrective action is initiated; Preparing schedules/budgets, providing guidance to contractors and resolving conflicts that may arise; Conducting quarterly reviews of security services, including facility compliance, personnel security, information security, and threat assessment. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Mastery of knowledge of a wide range of security specialties, concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices to independently manage assigned programs.
2. Extensive knowledge of AFMC's mission, functions, and structure to the unit level to ensure effective implementation and oversight of special programs security concepts, principles, and practices.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of all Information Security disciplines and governing policies, directives, instructions, and procedures.
4. Expert knowledge of General Supply Administration (GSA) specifications; state-of-the-art detection and surveillance systems, construction standards, automated data processing systems and other security concepts to integrate the requirements of all security disciplines into guidance for the implementation and management of the AFMC special programs information security program.
5. Expert knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to conduct surveys/studies, accomplish projects, and effectively evaluate results for the effective management and completion of programs.
6. Skill in oral and written communication methods and techniques at various levels and venues.
7. Able to effectively manage and organize various program activities and tasks, singularly and together, and familiar with administrative requirements of USAF and AFMC.
